As many of you already know, I am preparing to embark on my next international adventure – an overland trip of coastal West Africa.
I’ll be traveling with my younger brother, Daniel, who has done a fair amount of traveling (check out his travel blog here), but has never been to Africa.
We’re leaving in late September of 2017 and expect to be traveling for 3-6 months. After our return, I’m headed to graduate school in New York.
We’ll be starting in or near Benin, hoping to visit friends and neighbors from my Peace Corps service, and then will head west and north, eventually ending in Morocco.
Here is a helpful map of what we plan to do:
Countries we anticipate visiting:
- Benin
- Togo
- Ghana
- Cote d’Ivoire
- Liberia
- Sierra Leone
- Guinea
- Guinea-Bissau
- Senegal
- The Gambia
- Mauritania
- Morocco
Some of these are subject to change – actually, all are subject to change.
We are leaving most of our planning fairly open so we can adjust the agenda as we go along and learn new things about the area.
I definitely will be blogging here, posting photos, and generally keeping you updated.
Thanks for reading and keeping up with me!
It should be noted that visas to all of these countries cost about a billion dollars.
